IAS CEU Artists/Writers in Residence Program 2023/2024 (up to €2,000)

By on July 19, 2022 0

Deadline: August 25, 2022

Applications for the 2023/2024 Artist/Writer-in-Residence Program at the Institute for Advanced Study at Central European University (IAS CEU) are now open. Since 2015, the Artist in Residence program defines one of the core programs of the Institute and is an integral part of its activities.

The IAS CEU offers a Writer-in-Residence Fellowship and a Visual/New Media Artist-in-Residence Fellowship each year to provide selected artists with opportunities to conceptualize and create new work while providing opportunities for the community meaningful interaction with artists working in various fields. These two residential fellowships (up to 5 months each with a minimum stay of 3 months) are offered on a competitive basis to internationally established artists as well as emerging artists, in creative writing (from poetry and prose to theatre, film and playwriting) and visual arts, including new media art (from painting to filmmaking and from digital art to computer graphics to interactive art).

They are looking for artists who can work independently, have a solid work plan for their fellowship period and are ready to engage in the intellectual life of the Institute and the university. Artists in Residence are expected to participate in the academic life of the IAS Fellows community, which includes participation in the weekly Fellows Seminar and a presentation of their own artistic or literary work.

Camaraderie

  • A net stipend of EUR 2,000 per month + accommodation at the Raoul Wallenberg Guesthouse and/or office space on the IAS CEU premises depending on availability, either of which can be used as a studio, limited equipment and technical support from the CEU Media Lab. They encourage all Visual Artist Fellowship applicants to educate themselves on existing facilities and available technology.
  • Awarded scholars are responsible for their own travel arrangements and health insurance. Fellowships can begin in October 2023. Fellows must be in continuous residency for the duration of the fellowship.
