Do you like paintings and sculptures but not shock stickers? There’s a new art exhibit in Dallas

Artexpo Dallas opens next week at the Dallas Market Center. It will feature paintings and sculptures from galleries in Berlin, Tokyo, Miami and Toronto, as well as some 30 galleries in Texas, including those in El Paso, Austin and Houston.

But the fact that it takes place at the Dallas Market Center somehow tells you that it’s separate from the Dallas Art Fair.

Julia Ross is director of Plano-based Art Gallery Pure. His gallery participated in Artexpo New York last year and will also exhibit 10 to 15 artists in the new Dallas fair.

“The Dallas Art Fair, for the most part, has international exhibits in a very expensive range,” she said. “Artexpo Dallas will provide a more affordable option.”

In fact, Artexpo Dallas has partnered with the WestEdge Design Fair to also feature home furnishings and interior design. The event will be a prelude to Texas Design Week, September 19-23, which will be held at various locations in the Design District. There is also a “sister exhibition” within Artexpo, called [SOLO]which is designed to feature “established and emerging artists”.

Redwood Art Group is the company behind Artexpo. It attracts nearly a million people to its trade shows across the country.

And they intend to make Artexpo Dallas an annual event.
